When it comes to learning about handguns, shooting and firearms ownership, not knowing how or where to start can be an intimidating hurdle for newcomers. First Shots® provides opportunities to get started and the support to continue in handgun shooting. First Shots also offers shotgun and rifle seminars at select ranges across the country.

Point vs. Precision Shooting
Duration: 4 Hours

Abstract: Understand the components of point shooting through the natural ability of eye/hand coordination. Learn the difference between point shooting and precision shooting techniques and when to apply these skills based on the situation. This course will prove the limiting factors for both techniques and the student will learn to instinctively employ the proper methodology.

Speed Shooting (Formerly Shooting Out of Your Comfort Zone)
Duration: 1 Day (8 hours)

Abstract: Explore a variety of techniques and concepts to expand your portfolio of shooting skills. Improve your level of shooting through a combination of academic and practical exercises in this intensive 8-hour course. The intermediate/advanced shooter will be challenged in ways that allow them to shoot to their full potential. This course will focus on breaking your "comfort zone" relative to speed: speed of presentation, speed of shot delivery, speed of target transition, and speed of reload, all while maintaining the foundational accuracy you've come to expect from operating within your "comfort zone".

Single Hand Pistol Techniques
Duration: 1/2 day (4 Hours)

Abstract: Fine tune your ability to engage targets and manipulate your semiautomatic pistol with one hand. Learn how to load, reload, perform immediate action and clear your pistol when only one hand is available. Dominant and support hand drills will be conducted.

Concealed Carry Techniques
Duration: 4 hours

Abstract: Get a taste of our 2-day Concealed Carry Pistol - Intermediate course with this introductory class. Learn the basics of concealing a pistol in a strong-side hip holster and how to engage targets from a concealed carry posture.

Skill Drills for the Competitive Shooter
Duration: 4 hours

Abstract: A series of skill drills to give the competitive shooter the competitive edge needed to move to the next level. Drills included are Precision, Speed, Near to Far, Multiples, Movement, and much more. Shoot smooth and fast all using the SIG (Simple is Good) principal of shot delivery. Targets will be a mix of reactive steel and cardboard.

NRA Basic Pistol – $150.00
8 hr. course – Selected Saturdays

Fee includes all required equipment & materials including eye ear protection, firearm use ammunition and targets supplied. Morning coffee donuts and lunch be provided. Pre registration is required and class size is limited.
